Sub-Sahara Advisory Panel was formed in 2009 when a number of African diaspora groups in Wales met to consider how they might collectively advance their common interest in International Development. The organisation seeks to utilise skills, capacity and knowledge found within Welsh African diaspora communities for the benefit of all. This includes giving advice on how to deliver effective international development interventions by contributing a sound understanding of cultures and the social economic realities of everyday life in Sub Saharan countries. SSAP is a member of the Hub Cymru Africa partnership.
Aim: To consider and pursue the needs of Diaspora Groups in their international development work, and to facilitate the knowledge and skills of Diaspora Groups in Wales to be used to advice and support indigenous Welsh International Development Organisations.
SSAP is an independent think-tank on international development. Our mission is to inspire and inform policy and practice which lead to the reduction of poverty and the achievement of sustainable livelihoods in [sub-Saharan]Africa. We do this through practical policy advice, policy-focused dissemination, debate and applied research. We work with partners in the public and private sectors across Wales and UK generally.
